You’ll never truly understand it until you experience it.
You can give me the most heartfelt speech, but do you honestly know what you’re talking about?
Do you have any clue what it’s like to hate everything about yourself? Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt utter disgust? Have you ever feared other people’s judgement so much, you went entire summers in jeans and hoodies? Have you ever been paranoid the scars will show? Have you ever cried yourself to sleep, wishing you can be in another bed, in another house, in another life? Have you ever listened to your iPod as loud as it can go to drown out your parent’s yelling? Have you ever turned up the stereo so loud they couldn’t hear your screaming? Have you ever hid in your closet so you don’t have to deal with getting hit? Have you ever had to use make-up to cover all the bruising?
If you haven’t, do not talk to me about what you think you know.
